UNDERSTANDING WHO YOU ARE

A class by Olumide Olorunmaye

By saying understanding who you are I have actually made an assumption that am talking to believers i  mean sons and daughters in the kingdom  cus the topic in it’s full form is understanding who you are as a Christian.
Probably you might heard this story before,
There lived a king

👑

who has a son ( the Prince) and a slave. This King had a golden cup

🍸

known to both the son and the prince 🤴. There was a day the prince went to where the his father kept the cup and mistakenly he broke the cup.🤦‍♂ When he was trying to cover up the mess, the slave boy saw him and threaten to tell the king about it. The prince begged him not to and he( the slave) agreed to only if the prince we be giving him his meal and the prince agreed. Right from then the slave began to feed like the prince each time the prince is not willing to release the slave remind about the cup and once he said that he had no option than to surrender the food. The deal continues that way until one faithful day when the prince gather courage to explain what actually happened to the king his father and to his greatest surprise the father instead being angry for the cup punished the slave. I just have to shorten the story to save time. Actually the story depict a Christian who committed a sin and out of fear refuses to confess and Satan was using that to torment his life until he finally open up to the Father, he received the father’s forgiveness and then Satan was silenced.
Though that’s not where am going to tonight but at the same time probably there’s anyone who here who by mistake  has fallen into a sin. You need not to allow the hunt and torment, open up to the Father he’s more interested in forgiving than punishing you.
Now where am going is this, If I may ask what do you think made  the prince agreed to the slave’s condition? Well we might have different answers but if you ask me I will tell you it’s because of lack of understanding.

The prince lack understanding of;

 Who he is

 Who the father is.

and finally, the slave.

I have come to realize that the major problem of many Christian is lack of understanding. As a Christian there are three personalities you must  properly understand about if you really want to enjoy Dominion and victory in Christ.

Dan 11: 32 …tells us those that know there God shall be strong and will do exploit…your exploit in the kingdom depends on your knowledge and understanding God.

secondly you must understand the devil Paul we should not be ignorant of the devices of the devil lest he take an advantage of us.If you don’t understand the devil he will rob and cheat you.

The understanding of what and who a person is help an individual to live a kind of life that is expected of him. if a prince lacks the understanding of who he his he will act and behave anyhow in the community.
Quickly, what will understanding do for a man
1️⃣ Understanding produce wisdom …pro 10:14,14:33
Proverbs 10:14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction. As a Christian understanding of who you are gives you wisdom to handle things and relate with others esp the unbelievers around us.
phil 2 :15, many Christians have not been able to live up the standard of this verse because of they lack wisdom on how to relate with unbelievers around them and this because they don’t fully  understand who they are.
You hear many irritating and sadden stories between a so child of God and an unbeliever while because we lack understanding of the light that we are.Proverbs 10:13 In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.
I would have love to explain better on the difference between wisdom and understanding but time we not permit me… 2️⃣understanding guides your way of life job 28:28, pro 6: 32,14:29, 15: 21.
Job 28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
Proverbs 6:32 But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
Proverbs 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.
Proverbs 15:21 Folly is joy to him that is destitute of wisdom: but a man of understanding walketh uprightly.
One of reasons why there are various argument about many biblical standard especially on dressing, worship, association and relationship today is because we lack proper  understanding of what the Bible calls us.
Likewise if you see a Christian I mean a Christian who still toys and play what he or she lacks his understanding.
3️⃣ understanding grant easy victory Job 26:12 Most of battles that appears to be stubborn and unconquerable in many believers life  today isn’t because they are really stubborn but because we aren’t applying the rest strategy.
Job 26:12 He divideth the sea with his power, and by his understanding he smiteth through the proud. Some of these battles might not really take serious fasting and praying, the victory to some of this battles lies solely in our ability to claim our right in Christ..we are suffering from the devil because not our understanding of our authority in Christ.
Kenneth hagin in one of his book talk about an incident that happened in   one of his encounter with Jesus if you conversant with his book you must have come across the story.
I will never forget when the Lord appeared to me in a vision in 1952 in the state of Oklahoma. He said, “I’m going to talk to you about the devil, demons, and demon possession.” The whole thing lasted about an hour and a half. Jesus stood before me as I knelt. Suddenly an evil spirit that  looked like a monkey jumped up between us and caused a black cloud to appear. I couldn’t see Jesus, but I could hear Copied ZOE..BY KENNETH HAGIN
The whole thing lasted about an hour and a half. Jesus stood before me as I knelt. Suddenly an evil spirit that looked like a monkey jumped up between us and caused a black cloud to appear. I couldn’t see Jesus, but I could hear, He kept right on talking. Meanwhile, the spirit threw his arms and legs out and hollered in a shrill voice, “Yakety-yak, yakety-yak, yakety-yak.”
He kept on acting that way and thoughts ran through  my mind faster than machine gun bullets could fire.I thought, Dear Lord! I’m missing what Jesus is saying  (instruction He was giving me about dealing with the devil). I heard the sound of His voice, but I couldn’t distin-guish the words because of this “yakety-yak” business. I couldn’t see Jesus because the cloud was there. Then I thought, Doesn’t Jesus know? Doesn’t He know I’m not hearing Him? Why doesn’t Jesus do something about it? Why does He allow it?Aren’t those the kinds of questions asked all the time? “Why did God allow it? Why doesn’t God do something about it?”Finally, in desperation, I spoke to the spirit. I said, “I  command you to shut up in the Name of Jesus.”When I said that, he hit the floor like a sack of salt: “kerplop.” The dark cloud disappeared, and I could see Jesus. Then Jesus said something that absolutely aston-ished me; something that upended my theology. (We get so concerned about theology that we miss the Bible.)Jesus pointed to that little fellow lying there (and not only lying there — he was shaking all over trembling from head to foot and whining). Jesus pointed to him and said, “If you hadn’t done something about that, I couldn’t have.”
4️⃣ understanding prevent living below standard
5️⃣ Understanding prevent us from fallen into devil’s trick ( learn from Eve)
The trouble with a lot of us is we live up there in the faith realm, but we’ve gone down the back stairs in the reason realm. We have failed to realize what Jesus did. We have failed to realize who we are. We have failed to take advantage of what belongs to us. And so, when trouble comes, we become fearful. We’ve sat around begging for authority and we had it all the time! We’ve sat around waiting for God to do something, yet He’s waiting for us to do something. KENNETH HAGIN
It’s my prayer that God will grant us understanding of who we are in Jesus name. AMEN.
